Deadline are reporting that Tim Burton has recruited Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Landau and Martin Short to contribute their vocal talents to his stop-motion animated full-length feature film version of Frankenweenie.

Originally a short film, Frankenweenie was officially announced earlier this year and has already been scheduled for release on March 9, 2012 by Disney. It centers on a man who reanimates his dog after it gets hit by a car.

Tim Burton has worked with all four of the above actors and actresses before, but, seeing as Burton has a close-knit group of regular collaborators, the news will come as no surprise to admirers of Burton’s past work.

If you haven’t already seen the 1984 live-action short, then head over to YouTube, where you can glimpse the mastermind at his best.

Expect more casting and production news to be announced in the immediate future.

If you’re an avid fan of Burton, like myself, you’ll also be praying March 9, 2012 comes sooner rather than later.
