Sylvester Stallone

It’s been a long time since Sylvester Stallone tackled a “serious” drama, but The Expendables star is set to give it another go with Reach Me, a movie which also stars Terry Crews, Kelsey Grammer, Thomas Jane, Kevin Connolly, Kyra Sedgwick, Ryan Kwanten, Tom Berenger, Tom Sizemore, Cary Elwes and Nelly.

Comparisons have been made to Crash, though based on this trailer, Reach Me – which follows a group of troubled people who come together after reading a self-help book written by a mysterious author – looks more like a B-Movie version of that type of film which would be better suited being released straight to DVD!

Written and directed by John Herzfeld (2 Days in the Valley), you can check out the trailer for the Sylvester Stallone led release below. Reach Me is currently set to be released this October.

In related Sylvester Stallone news, the Rambo star has found his next project and it sounds a lot more like what we’ve come to expect from him. Deadline reports that Brad Furman (Runner Runner) will direct Scarpa, a movie which sees Stallone play Gregory Scarpa, a former capo and enforcer (hitman) for the Colombo crime family known as the Grim Reaper. Goodfellas scribe Nicholas Pileggi penned the screenplay.

The site goes on to reveal that this role will see Sylvester Stallone play one of the most well-know sociopaths in the history of organised crime. Scarpa murdered dozens of people for the mob and was even rumoured to have killed members of his own biological family.

Despite naming himself the “Killing Machine” and boasting about his many kills, he later turned FBI informant and had a rather unpleasant end when he died in 1994 in a Minnesota prison. How much of his story this movie will cover remains to be seen, though Stallone definitely seems like a suitable choice!
