Laggies seems like an odd title, but with a tagline like “Stop lagging and start living,” it starts to make a little more sense! The coming of age comedy from director Lynn Shelton (Your Sister’s Sister) stars Keira Knightley (Begin Again) as a confused 28-year-old who is thrown by a marriage proposal and hides out in the home of her 16-year-old friend (Kick-Ass star Chloe Grace Moretz) and her father, played by Iron Man 2’s Sam Rockwell.

Laggies was met with a mostly very positive response at this year’s Sundance, and the trailer does a great job of selling the movie, making it easy to tell whether this will appeal to you when it’s released later this year.

It’s an interesting spin on the normal coming of age drama as the movie will seemingly focus just as much on the two adults realising they need to grow up as it will the 16 year old girl played by Moretz.

Having spent her twenties comfortably inert, 28 year old Megan (Keira Knightley) reaches a crisis when she finds herself squarely in adulthood with no career prospects, no particular motivation to pursue any and no one to relate to, including her high school boyfriend (Mark Webber). When he proposes, Megan panics and given an opportunity to escape – at least temporarily – she hides out in the home of her new friend, 16-year-old Annika (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Annika’s world-weary single dad (Sam Rockwell).

Also starring Mark Webber, Jeff Garlin, Gretchen Mol, and Kaitlyn Dever, Laggies is set to receive a limited release in the US on October 24th, and will be out in the UK a little earlier on the 10th of  October.
