Back in December, we got two rather intense first images of Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming adaptation of the original graphic novel, Bullet to the Head.

Things have been pretty quiet since then, but with The Expendables 2 heading into theatres this weekend, it looks like now is the perfect time to take a look at Stallone’s next project, with IGN debuting the first trailer.

“Based upon a Matz and Colin Wilson graphic novel, Stallone plays Jimmy Bobo, a hitman who teams with a young NYPD detective (Sung Kang) in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the dingy back alleys of New Orleans all the way to the power corridors of New Orleans. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.”

Starring alongside Stallone will be a cast headed up by Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian), Christian Slater (True Romance), Sarah Shahi (Fairly Legal), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (The Bourne Identity), and the brilliant Sung Kang (Fast Five).

Walter Hill (Last Man Standing) is behind the camera, directing from a script he co-wrote with Alessandro Camon, who penned the Oscar-nominated script for The Messenger with Oren Moverman.

Bullet to the Head will be released on 1st February, 2013 in the UK and US, coming shortly after the release of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s The Last Stand, the first trailer of which we’ve also seen tonight. It’s going to be an action-packed start to the New Year.
