Written and directed by Chris Fisher (S. Darko), Meeting Evil has a great cast in the leading roles, filled by Luke Wilson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Leslie Bibb. Based on Thomas Berger’s original 1992 novel, the film sees Wilson in the lead as a family man forced to go to great lengths to protect his family.

The first trailer and poster have now surfaced over at Apple, ahead of its VoD release in the US at the end of month, which in turn comes ahead of its theatrical release on 4th May.

“When John Fleton, a depressed suburban family man and recently fired realtor, offers to help a stranger, Richie, with his car, John is sucked into a surreal, nightmarish murder spree that forces him to question everything about his life, his mode of behavior, and the very nature of evil…”

As much as I am a fan of Wilson and Jackson’s work in particular (and Bibb in the few things I’ve seen her in – read: Iron Man and ER), I can’t help but feel that this isn’t going to be sitting up there as some of their best roles. The trailer does a good job of showing off the darkness and tension, and Jackson plays a good menacing figure, but especially considering as its US theatrical release pits it against another film with Samuel L. Jackson – The Avengers – I have an idea that it will be a quiet box office opening and go largely unnoticed.

Here’s to hoping that I’m wrong though, because, as I say, I do like Wilson and Jackson, and seeing Jackson as a terror and Wilson pushed to the edge does sound like a good premise. Even if I don’t think it will find a very wide audience, I’m intrigued nonetheless. Let us know in the comments below if you agree/disagree.
