Sacha Baron Cohen is a busy sonofabitch right now. As well as the heavy responsibility of portraying Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic lurking on the horizon; he’s also currently working on comedy project ‘The Dictator’. Never far from controversy, Cohen will star as a Saddam Hussein like dictator, who secretly moves to New York and is replaced by a goat herder.
Borat and Bruno director Larry Charles is in the chair again; taking the reigns of the story that is based (loosely) on Hussein’s own novel “Zabibah and the King”. A book about a “benevolent, beloved king who falls in love with a beautiful, victimized girl who was raped by her cruel husband“…the King being Saddam & his peaceful Iraq of course, with the cruel rapist being the United States. Hussein was never one for subtlety, I think you’d agree.
We’re pretty sure this is going to be a return to form for the comedian, after 2009’s try-too-hard Bruno. Check out the man in his Dictatory uniform, below; as well as a snap of Cohen on set draped in a rather fetching Stars’n’Stripes shell suit. It’s niiiice.
