With so much time dedicated to 24 over the years, and now to Touch, it’s not often we get to see Kiefer Sutherland on the big screen, so when the opportunity arises, you know full well to take it.

We last saw him in Lars von Trier’s brilliant Melancholia, and up next is Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist, in which he stars alongside Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Liev Schreiber, and Om Puri.

The film was announced as part of the Toronto International Film Festival line-up this afternoon, where it will make its North American debut, and following on from that announcement, we’ve now got our first look at Sutherland and more new images from the film.

“Kiefer Sutherland, Liev Schreiber and Kate Hudson co-star in this adaptation of Mohsin Hamid’s international best-selling novel, about a young Pakistani man (Riz Ahmed) whose pursuit of corporate success on Wall Street leads him on a strange path back to the world he had left behind.”

BAFTA-nominated Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding) is behind the camera, directing from a script co-written by William Wheeler and Mohsin Hamid, based on Hamid’s original novel.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist will be heading to Toronto seeking distribution, and with such strong talent surrounding the project, we’re confident it will be arriving on the big screen in the UK and US before long. For now, enjoy these new images, which you can click to enlarge.
