You’ve seen her as a young wife and mother on Modern Family, and next you’ll be seeing her in an entirely different role as a brothel owner in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming sequel, Machete Kills.
Sofía Vergara is one of the handful of brilliant new additions to Rodriguez’s sequel, and she’ll be starring alongside Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Demián Bichir, Charlie Sheen (as the President of the United States, no less), and Mel Gibson.
Vergara’s son, Manolo Vergara, recently visited the set, and has the first behind-the-scenes look at footage from the film, showing us in video form more of the images we saw of his mother last month.
“The second film in the Machete trilogy finds Machete mourning the loss of his beloved Sartana, slain during a run in with the cartels. Machete is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a cartel leader, Mendez the Madman, who threatens to fire a missile on the US. Machete foils Mendez’s plot only to find that the missiles are remote wired to and triggered by the madman’s still beating heart. The only man who can disarm the missile is eccentric billionaire arms dealer, Luther Voz, who has hatched a plan of his own to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on Voz and his army in order dismantle his master plan for global anarchy.”
No word yet on a release date, but if all goes well, then we should be seeing this on the big screen sometime next year – and with a bit of luck, Rodriguez’s other sequel, Sin City 2, will be joining it in 2013.
