Wreck-It Ralph PosterDisney will be bringing Wreck-It Ralph to theatres in the US in just a few short weeks, and from all we’ve seen so far, it likes set to be one of the best animated films of the year, and could well be heading to the Oscars in a few months’ time.

We caught a new UK trailer for the film last week, and now Yahoo Movies have debuted the first clip, and a great little retro TV spot has surfaced alongside it.

“Ralph is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, the good guy star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

On his quest, Wreck-It Ralph meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realise his dream and save the day before it’s too late?”

John C. Reilly takes the eponymous lead, with an excellent voice cast starring alongside him, headed up by Jack McBrayer, Sue Lynch, Sarah Silverman, Alan Tudyk, Dennis Haysbert, and Ed O’Neill.

Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama), the two-time Emmy-winning director, makes his feature directorial debut, directing from a script co-written by Phil Johnston (Cedar Rapids) and newcomer Jennifer Lee.

Wreck-It Ralph will be released in 3D in the US on 2nd November, followed by a 15th February, 2013 release here in the UK. And it’s expected that the anticipated Disney short, Paperman, will be attached before the film, giving us all the more reason to go see it on the big screen. Here’s the excellent first clip to give you a taste of what to expect, followed by the old-school TV spot. Enjoy.
