Released in the UK tomorrow, Sally Potter’s anticipated Ginger & Rosa debuted to brilliant early reviews at Toronto last month, following the release of the terrific first trailer just ahead of its TIFF debut.

The film screened as part of the BFI London Film Festival earlier this week, where we caught up with stars Elle Fanning and Alice Englert and writer/director Sally Potter, and you can see our interviews from the night here.

With its release just around the corner on our shores, Artificial Eye have released the first clip from the film, which is very much recommended viewing this weekend.

“As the Cold War meets the sexual revolution in 1960s London, the lifelong friendship of two teenage girls (Elle Fanning, Alice Englert) is shattered by ideological differences and personal betrayals.”

Starring alongside the young leading duo will be an excellent supporting cast, headed up by Christina Hendricks, Alessandro Nivola, Annette Bening, Timothy Spall, and Oliver Platt.

A24 acquired the US distribution rights last weekend, and though no release date has been set yet, their intentions are to give the film an Oscar-qualifying run before the year’s end, followed by a wide release in early 2013.

Ginger & Rosa will be starting with a limited London release in the UK, 19th October, and as one of the most promising British productions of the year, it’s essential viewing. Here’s the new clip to give you a nudge in the right direction for tomorrow night.
