‘Nosferatu’ filmmaker Robert Eggers has set a remake of ‘A Christmas Carol’ to his schedule with a possibility of Willem Dafoe coming on board to play Scrooge.’

The remake remains in development, and Eggers is still booked to direct ‘Werwulf’ beforehand for Focus. ‘Christmas Carol’ would be Eggers’ first feature at Warner Bros.

The original Dickens novella has undergone numerous adaptations over the years. Directors like Robert Zemeckis, Sean Anders, and Richard Donner have all indulged in bringing the classic material to the big screen.

The production could see Eggers and Dafoe reuniting yet again on the project, The pair first worked together on A24’s seaside black comedy ‘The Lighthouse’, and Dafoe returned for supporting roles in Eggers’ two subsequent period pieces at Universal’s specialty banner Focus Features, ‘The Northman’ and ‘Nosferatu.’
