At their CinemaCon presentation earlier today, Universal Pictures announced and changed the release dates of a number of their films. Perhaps the biggest announcement was the fact that Fast & Furious 8 will be released on April 14th, 2017. That will put it into competition Disney’s live-action Ghost In The Shell.

Just as exciting for a whole different fan base is the fact that the Fifty Shades of Grey sequels have been given release dates. Fifty Shades Darker is set to be released on February 10th, 2017, while the conclusion of the trilogy Fifty Shades Freed will follow on February 9th, 2018. Nice timing with Valentine’s Day of course!

Plenty of other changes were made to Universal’s release schedule too, with Warcraft moved from March 11th, 2016 to June 10th, 2016. The studio is obviously confident in the movie to make it a summer tentpole.

Mena (starring Tom Cruise) is set for January 6th, 2017, Pacific Rim 2 has been shifted from April 7th, 2017 to August 4th, 2017, and The Mummy reboot has been delayed from June 24th, 2016 to March 24th, 2017.

Finally, the Untitled Universal Monster Franchise Film has moved from April 21st, 2017 to March 30th, 2018. These delays might not be a good sign for those looking forward to Universal’s shared universe plans…
