This evening a chilly capital was warmed by the tangible excitement for the London premiere of Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey. E. L. James’ Fifty Shades trilogy were an outsized hit for the author, who has also completed another book in the series, Grey, which retold the story from the viewpoint of Christian Grey. The series is an unstoppable one, and the second film in the trilogy is due in cinemas tomorrow.

James Foley takes over from Sam Taylor-Johnson in the director’s chair for this sequel and the next – Fifty Shades Freed, which is due for release this time next year. Though reaction to the films may follow the books’ critical appraisal there is a huge fanbase eager to enjoy this new rendition of the relationship. We’ll have our review of the film up as soon as possible.

The film stars Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Marcia Gay Harden, Kim Basinger, Hugh Dancy, Bella Heathcote, Jennifer Ehle, Luke Grimes, Rita Ora, Victor Rasuk, Eloise Mumford, Max Martini and Eric Johnson. The cast braved the cold to mosey down the red carpet of the Odeon Leicester Square, and we were there to meet them.
