It appears as if the cast of Godzilla director Gareth Edwards’ 2016 Star Wars spinoff is finally coming together, with a number of actresses said to be testing for the movie’s lead role according to a new report.

Canadian actress and Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany is testing this week, with Rooney Mara (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and a handful of other actresses heading in to test for the same part soon as well.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Felicity Jones (who recently scored an Oscar nomination for her role in The Theory of Everything) is also being considered, but scheduling issues may complicate things due to the fact that the British actress is gearing up to shoot a role in Ron Howard’s Da Vinci Code sequel, Inferno.

The report has no details on who they will be testing for or what the movie will focus on, but past reports have claimed that the Star Wars spinoff will focus on a group of bounty hunters hired by the Rebels to steal the plans of the first Death Star. That’s just a rumour however, so it very much remains a mystery for now.

They do however reveal that it’s unlikely Simon Kinberg will be taking over writing duties from Gary Whitta, as he’s far too busy with Josh Trank’s Star Wars spin off and a number of other Fox based Marvel projects.
