Although production is well underway for the forthcoming biopic on Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg in which Felicity Jones takes the role of Ginsberg with Armie Hammer playing her husband, Marty, further casting news see’s Kathy Bates and Justin Theroux jumping on board the picture.

The picture focuses on Ginsburg from when she a young lawyer who teamed with her husband Marty to bring a groundbreaking case before the Supreme Court and overturn a century of gender discrimination.

Alongside this news, the first look at Felicity Jones as Ginsberg has been released, which you can view below.

In a previous statement given to Entertainment Weekly, Leder commented on her feelings on telling the story of Ginsberg.

“Our story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg resonates with me on so many levels — from the inspiring partnership she found in her marriage, to overcoming adversity as a woman and discovering the strength of her own voice, to her empathetic commitment to those in need of a voice no matter their gender, race, status or religious beliefs. In these tumultuous times, stories like that speak to the heart of humanity and remind us what it means to lead with love and compassion as they move forward.”

Deep Impact’s Mimi Leder is at the helm of the film which was written by Ginsberg’s nephew, Daniel Stiepleman, The rest of the cast consists of Sam Waterston, Jack Reynor, Stephen Root and Cailee Spaeny. Robert Cort is producing, and Participant’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King, as well as Karen Loop and Betsy Danbury, are executive producers.

On the Basis of Sex will be released in 2018, which correlates with Ginsburg’s 25th anniversary on the Supreme Court.
