Narcos fans rejoice – the excellent series is back with a new spin-off, as Narcos: Mexico begins this week on Netflix, and to celebrate the occasion we flew out to Bilbao in Spain to meet two of the leading stars, Michael Peña and Diego Luna.

Peña discusses the notion of binge-watching series, before Luna tells us exactly where this series fits into the Narcos world, and how today we’re still feeling the effects of what went down in Mexico during this tumultuous time. The pair also comment on the need to remain authentic and respectful, given it’s dealing with the real world, while Peña tells us whether he met any friends and family of Kiki Camarena, who he is portraying in this show.

Luna, however, is playing Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo, and he explains what it was like getting into the character’s head, before we got into the discussion concerning Trump’s wall, and why he feels it won’t have any effect. This leads into a chat about society’s insularity at present, and why it’s so important we open our minds to programmes that tell stories of other cultures, before we ended by stepping out of the real world, to discuss Luna’s role in Star Wars and how much he cherishes his experience starring in such a beloved franchise – a franchise he is, of course, soon to step into once again.
