Hammer’s 2012 adaptation of Susan Hill’s The Woman in Black had recent Ex-Potter Daniel Radcliffe taking on the titular vengeful spirit haunting Eel Marsh House at the turn of the twentieth century.

It was a fine, and grim version necessarily broadening the popular stage play many know the tale from and Radcliffe led the film well. The sequel is now upon us, set forty years after the original haunting and with the second world war offering up a dark backdrop.

Like 2011’s The Awakening the horrors of war are interwoven into the narrative and give a solid foundation to the events of Angel of Death; this time Eel Marsh House is being used as a home for evacuated children. You can see where this is going…

This sneak peek at the new film takes us behind the scenes of Tom Harper’s film, including a fascinating look at the woman in black herself. The landscape and location, costume, make up and more are gone into here; this is a perfect tease and shows the level of details and dedication present in the film.

The film is unleashed into your local motionpictureatorium on New Year’s Day 2015.

Here’s a synopsis to chill those bones until the new year comes and she returns.

When a group of orphaned children are forced to move from their home in London, caretakers Eve (Phoebe Fox) and Jean (Helen McCrory) bring everyone to the desolate and eerie British countryside.

40 years after Arthur Kipps (played by Daniel Radcliffe in the first film, The Woman in Black) left, this supernatural horror film introduces this new group to the now abandoned Eel Marsh House; an odd but seemingly safe location.

It isn’t long before Eve starts to sense that this house is not what it appears to be as the children in her care begin to disappear. As their house of safety becomes a house of horrors, Eve enlists the help of a handsome pilot (Jeremy Irvine) to help investigate what is happening.

Eve soon discovers that it may not be a coincidence that she has come to reside in the house inhabited by the Woman in Black.
