To celebrate the release of Disney and Pixar’s latest animated offering Onward, which opens in UK and US cinemas this week, we sat down with the films filmmaking team to chat all things questing.

Onward, which features the voices of Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home), Chris Pratt (Avengers: Endgame), Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (Downhill), Octavia Spencer (Ma) and more, tells the story of two young brothers who, after losing their father years earlier, discover he was something of wizard and that they may have a way of bringing him back to life for one last goodbye.

Scanlon, who lost his own father when he was young, used his own experiences to bring the story to life and through the brother relationship in the film, was able to weave in themes of family, connection, and loss. Indeed, it’s Scanlon and producer Rae think that it is those personal touches that have seen Pixar flourish for over two decades and reflect on the impact the studio has made on cinema, too.
