To celebrate the big-screen debut of one of the most talked-about musicals of recent years, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, we spoke to the film’s two leads to find out all about the new music spectacular.

Inspired by true events, the film follows Jamie New (Max Harwood), a teenager from Sheffield, who dreams of life on stage. While his classmates plan their livelihoods after they leave school, Jamie contemplates revealing his secret career ambition to become a fierce and proud drag queen despite his best friend Pritti’s (Lauren Patel) initial reservations. Speaking to us, Harwood and Patel told us of the pressures of portraying Jamie and Pritti on the big screen, being watched by over 200 countries around the world on Amazon Prime, and why the show’s messages of inclusion, embracing your truth, and celebrating diversity are still so important.

Directed by Jonathan Butterell, the film also stars Sarah Lancashire, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley, Sharon Horgan, and Richard E. Grant.
