Releasing the image via Twitter, Lilly paid tribute to the comic’s artist Jack Kirby on what would have been his 100th birthday by stating “I am honored to be on set today playing The Wasp on what would be Jack Kirby’s 100th birthday,”

Kirby was the renowned comic book creator alongside Stan Lee who was responsible for characters such as Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men, along with Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Cast and crew are still in the midst of filming the sequel which is due to be released in Summer 2018 and will follow events after Captain America: Civil War in which Ant-Man joined the infighting, following in the footsteps of this year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming with Tom Holland.

Marvel recently announced at SDCC that Michelle Pfeiffer would be joining the cast as the long lost wife to the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Janet van Dyne. Pym and Dyne are said to be the parents of Lilly’s character Hope van Dyne aka The Wasp.

Reprising their roles for the sequel are Paul Rudd, Michael Pena, Michael Douglas, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Abby Ryder Fortson, Tip ‘TI’ Harris and David Dastmalchian, with Lilly joining fellow newcomers Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen, Walton Goggins and Randall Park.
