The first image from the movie adaptation debuted late last year, giving us a look at the young Asa Butterfield in the lead, opposite Harrison Ford. Since then, we’ve more recently seen a new image last month, which gave us our first look at Hailee Steinfeld.
And with the film’s November release date inching ever closer, Yahoo Movies have now unveiled the first teaser poster for Ender’s Game.
In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.
Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
Starring alongside Butterfield, Steinfeld, and Ford will be a great cast, led by Abigail Breslin, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Moises Arias, and Brandon Soo Hoo.
Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is behind the camera, directing from his own script, based on the original novel by Orson Scott Card.
Ender’s Game is set to be released in the UK on 25th October, with its US release date following a week later on November 1st. That makes it one of the last big blockbusters of the year, arriving a few weeks before The Hunger Games: Catching Fire at the end of November.
