Empire have snagged the first look at The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, the forthcoming motion-capture 3D film based on the comic books created by Georges “Herge” Remi.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn has been directed by Steven Spielberg and features motion-capture performances from Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Daniel Craig, Toby Jones, Mackenzie Crook, Tony Curran and Gad Elmaleh.

The film depicts Tintin’s (Bell) first encounter with Captain Haddock (Serkis) and the discovery of a clue to the treasure of his ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. They set out to find it with protection from a prison escapee who tried to get the treasure as well as Detectives Thompson and Thomson (Pegg and Frost).

Teaser images posted on their website over the weekend – presumably from their upcoming December issue – give us a sneaky look at various aspects of Tintin and his beloved dog Snowy.

I’ve embedded four images below, head over to Empire’s website to see the whole lot:

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn will be released on December 23, 2011.
