Paramount Pictures are nearing completion on a deal to finance and distribute the Elton John biopic, Rocketman.

Dexter Fletcher will take the helm on the biopic on one of the music world’s most iconic artists. Fletcher will also reunite with his Eddie the Eagle star, Taron Egerton who is set to play the Rocketman himself. To make the film that little more authentic, Egerton will perform Elton’s songs himself after wowing sources with his almost identical vocal talents.

The film covers the singer/pianist’s growth from a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to a global superstar, through his influential and enduring musical partnership with his songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin.
