To celebrate the release of Elio, the latest animated spectacular from Pixar and Disney, we had the pleasure of chatting to some of the cast and filmmakers behind the out-of-this-world adventure!
For centuries, people have called out to the universe looking for answers—in Disney and Pixar’s all-new feature film Elio, the universe calls back! The cosmic misadventure introduces Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession. So, when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organisation with representatives from galaxies far and wide, Elio’s all in for the epic undertaking. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.
First, we chat to stars Brad Garrett (Lord Grigon), Yonas Kibreab (Elio) and JLS singer Aston Merrygold (Aston) about the art of voice acting, why the film is a story young audiences need right now, the lure of space and the beyond, always being true to yourself and more.
Next, filmmakers Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, and Mary Alice Drumm tell us about the long journey to get the film to the screen, navigating strikes, using real stars and space landscapes to help stimulate the world even more, the film’s influence on the story, and much more.
And, with the 30th anniversary of the original Toy Story coming up this year, we ask them all what their favourite Pixar films and moments are so far.

Elio opens in UK cinemas on June 20th.
