There is trouble afoot in the Fast and Furious Family; Universal Pictures has now scheduled the Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham lead Fast and Furious spin-off for a July 26th, 2019 release. However, the news didn’t go down too well with fellow Furious actor Tyrese Gibson as he took to social media to vent his frustrations with Johnson.

Fast and Furious Spin-off

With the ninth outing now delayed until 2020 due to finding the right director according to studio sources, Gibson voiced his anger at Johnson and blamed his stand-alone spin-off as the cause after the announcement was made.

PSA Congratulations to @TheRock and your brother in law aka 7 bucks producing partner @hhgarcia41 for making the Fast and the Furious franchise about YOU”.

He went on to make another post stating until Johnson showed up the family were tight, insinuating Johnson wasn’t happy until they made the series all about him.

“Until Dewayne [sic] showed up I guess this whole time he had a problem cause he wasn’t the ONLY ONE on the movie poster……….. I guess dreams do come true congratulations to @hhgarcia41 and @therock you guys are just amazing you really broke up the #FastFamily I tried to warn you guys”

The spin-off will be penned by the franchises Chris Morgan and is said to follow Johnson’s Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs and Statham’s assassin character Deckard Shaw.

It has been rumoured that the Fast Five director Justin Lin could be making a return to the franchise for the ninth chapter but as of yet, no deal has been struck with any of the actors to make a return.
