Donal Logue

It was rumoured last month that Sons of Anarchy actor Donal Logue was in talks for a role in Gotham, with many assuming that he had been cast as Detective Jim Gordon. Well, it has today been confirmed by Fox that he will in fact be playing Detective Harvey Bullock, the partner and mentor to Ben McKenzie’s rookie Detective James Gordon.

The actor joins a cast which includes Robin Lord Taylor as the Penguin, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, and Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Gordon’s future wife. You can get more details on each of those characters by clicking here.

The official description of his character describes Bullock as “rough around the edges”, adding that he, “plays loose with police procedure — but gets results and does it with old-school, forceful panache.” That certainly lines up with the comic book version, as he has served faithfully alongside Gordon for years now.

The next major role to be cast is that of the young Bruce Wayne. The Mentalist’s creator Bruno Heller penned Gotham’s pilot, which Danny Cannon will direct.
