The BBC have released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming eighth series of Doctor Who, and it confirms that the show will return to the small screen this August. The brief glimpse doesn’t reveal an awful lot, but it does tease Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor in the redesigned Tardis.
There’s unfortunately no word on a specific air date from the broadcaster as of yet, though more details on that – as well as a full-length trailer – surely can’t be too far away.
Matt Smith was the last actor to play The Doctor, and Peter Capaldi made a brief appears as the twelfth incarnation of the character in the hugely popular “The Day of the Doctor” special. However, he didn’t officially take on the role until Smith regenerated into the World War Z actor in the following episode.
