Karyn Kusama’s Destroyer came to the capital for the 2018 London Film Festival this evening. The film stars Nicole Kidman, Toby Kebbell, Tatiana Maslany, (Bucky in the Avengers) Sebastian Stan, Scoot McNairy, Shamier Anderson and The West Wing and Get Out’s Bradley Whitford.
We spoke to Kidman about her transformation into the role, something which could be considered a departure from previous works. Director Kusama talked up the feeling she wanted to create for the film, and we travel with writer/producer Phil Hay and producer Fred Berger from script to screen.
Destroyer is released on Christmas Day in the US.

PLOT:
Destroyer follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.
