Emblem Pictures has officially released the trailer for its debut feature, ‘Desperate Journey’ — a gripping wartime thriller that marks the company’s first foray into UK film distribution. Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Annabel Jankel (Tell It to the Bees) and written by two-time Academy Award nominee and BAFTA winner Michael Radford (Il Postino), the film brings to life an extraordinary true story set against the seductive yet perilous backdrop of Nazi-occupied Paris.
Set in the burlesque underworld of 1940s France, ‘Desperate Journey’ stars rising talent Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen (1899) as Freddie Knoller, a young Jewish man forced to flee Vienna as the Nazis invade. Stranded in Paris with no money and desperate for forged papers, Freddie finds unexpected refuge in a lavish burlesque club — a place shimmering with glamour but crawling with danger, frequented by high-ranking Nazi officers.
The film also features acclaimed performances from Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds) and Steven Berkoff (A Clockwork Orange), adding gravitas to this tense and emotional story of resilience and hope amid the darkness of war.
