David O. Russell has signed on to write and direct a live-action adaptation of the action-adventure video game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer have penned the first draft of the screenplay, with Russell set to carry out re-writes before casting, then eventually directing the film for Columbia.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune will be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner.

The news comes only days after it was announced Russell had departed directorial duties on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies in favour of helming Old St. Louis with Vince Vaughn.
