Disney+ has announced the next major addition to its ambitious UK original slate: ‘Mosquito’, a sharp, sardonic new series from acclaimed screenwriter Tony McNamara (The Great, Poor Things). Leading the darkly comedic relationship tale are Golden Globe and Emmy® nominee Nicholas Hoult (Superman, Nosferatu) and BAFTA and Emmy® nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People, Twisters), marking a powerhouse pairing at the centre of the six-episode series.
Hoult and Edgar-Jones star as Ed and Kate, a newly married couple whose carefully crafted personas begin to unravel as the routine of domestic life brings hidden secrets to the surface—all triggered by one small but surprisingly disruptive culprit: an intrusive mosquito.
McNamara, who serves as writer and executive producer, expressed his excitement about shaping the offbeat relationship comedy with two of the industry’s most celebrated young actors.
“I’m thrilled and excited to work with and team up two of the best actors around. I can’t wait to go make absurd comedy with them.”

‘Mosquito’ also marks a reunion between McNamara and Hoult, who previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed Hulu Original The Great, which earned multiple award nominations across its run.
The series is produced by 20th Television, Piggy Ate Roast Beef Productions, and Hustle & Punch, with executive producers McNamara, Hoult, Edgar-Jones, Marian Macgowan, Tracy Underwood, and Daniel Pipski. The project was commissioned for Disney+ by Lee Mason, executive director of scripted content for The Walt Disney Company EMEA.
Filming is slated to begin in 2026, with the series set to stream globally on Disney+ and Hulu upon release.
