Curse-of-ChuckyIt’s been almost a decade since we last saw the puppet on the big screen, and now he’s back with a vengeance this year, in the straight-to-DVD sequel, Curse of Chucky.

Before its home entertainment debut across the Atlantic later this year, we can look forward to seeing it this summer at the Film4 FrightFest. And with its release on the horizon, Mashable have debuted the first trailer, giving us our first good look at the puppet’s return.

He’s back! From the filmmakers that brought you Chucky comes the terrifying return of the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of a notorious serial killer. When a mysterious package arrives at the house of Nica (Fiona Dourif, True Blood), she doesn’t give it much thought. However, after her mother’s mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to the ensuing bloodshed and chaos. The return of America’s favorite toy, voiced again by Brad Dourif, is unrated and full of more blood-splattered thrills and chills.

Brad Dourif returns once more to lend his voice as the notorious Chucky. And this time around, he’ll be joined by Fiona Dourif, Danielle Bisutti, A. Martinez, Brennan Elliott, and Chantal Quesnelle.

Don Mancini, who’s written every script in the franchise, and who directed 2004’s Seed of Chucky (the previous instalment), is once more directing from his own script.

Curse of Chucky is set to be released on DVD/Blu-ray in the US on October 8th, following its debut this August at Film4 FrightFest.
