To celebrate the anticipated release of Cross, the new series based on James Patterson’s novels focused on Detective Alex Cross, we had the pleasure of chatting to the new incarnations cast and showrunner to find out more.
Starring Aldis Hodge, Cross is a crime/thriller series that follows ALEX CROSS, a decorated D.C. homicide detective and forensic psychologist who faces a sadistic serial killer leaving a string of bodies strewn around the city. As Alex and his partner, John Sampson (Isaiah Mustafa), track this killer, a mysterious threat from Cross’ past appears, aiming to destroy what he’s done to keep his grieving family, career, and life together. Ryan Eggold, Alona Tal, and Johnny Ray Gill also star; Ben Watkins serves as showrunner.
Chatting to Hodge, Mustafa and Watkins, we talk about bringing the character into a modern setting, why audiences can’t get enough of Cross, why his suave ways and intellect are his greatest weapon, why the books are so popular, bringing the partnership of Cross and Sampson to the screen and why they work so well together, being respectful of other iterations (particularly Morgan Freeman’s portrayal) and much more in-between.
Cross begins on Prime Video from November 14th.
