If any of your dear readers are expecting some new games in the Operation Flashpoint or Bodycount franchises, then you may be out of luck. Codemasters have gone through a bit of a re-brand and are now called Codemasters Racing, as the name suggests they will only be developing racing games.

This is no bad thing of course given that the racing games they have produced over the years are arguably the best out there. The first games to be published under the new Codemasters Racing banner will be  DiRT Showdown on May 25 (a demo will be released on May 1). with F1GRID, and DiRT titles also in the works

“We have kept our reputation for delivering best-in-class racing games,” said communications chief Rich Eddy. “And best-in-class racing games is now our razor focus going forward.

“In racing, we are No.2 in Europe and that’s not good enough. We want to take racing games across multiple platforms and genres. So that players can play anytime, anywhere and on any device.

“Racing is our DNA, it is our heritage, it is our specialisation and it is our absolute focus going forward.”
