‘Like, whatever’ Paramount Pictures are currently developing ideas to remake the 1995 comedy ‘Clueless’.
Netflix comedy series scribe for ‘GLOW’ Marquita Robinson is onboard to write the script with Girls Trips’ Tracy Oliver set to produce.
The original coming-of-age romantic comedy film was written and directed by Amy Heckerling. It starred Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Paul Rudd and Brittany Murphy, and was produced by Scott Rudin and Robert Lawrence. Loosely based on Jane Austin’s 1815 novel ‘Emma’, it was updated to show a modern-day Beverly Hills. The film’s director, Heckerling, studied real Beverly Hills high school students to get the lingo and feel for how real teens in the 1980s talked. The famous quote “as if!” came from Heckerling’s study of these teens.

It earned $56 million in the U.S. on a $12 million budget which subsequently lead to a three-season television spinoff. Silverstone was replaced by Rachel Blanchard. Next month a ‘Clueless, the Musical,’ starring Dove Cameron, will be hitting the New York boards.
Robinson is best known for her story editing and writer on the Netflix series ‘Glow’ aka the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. She also served as a staff writer on ‘New Girl’ and Survivor’s Remorse. She was also part of the production team on ‘Black-ish’.
Oliver wrote the screenplay for ‘Girl’s Trip’ and also penned the script for 2016’s ‘Barbershop: A Fresh Cut’. Her other work as a writer includes the TV adaptation of ‘The First Wives Club’ and ‘The Sun is Also A Star’
