As we previously reported, he was always on board to direct, but will now star as well alongside Ryan Gosling, Evan Rachel Wood, Paul Giamatti and Marisa Tomei in the tale of a press spokesman working for a presidential candidate who suffers at the hands of backroom politics, the manipulation of seasoned political operators and seduction by young intern. Gosling plays the spokesman, Clooney will be the candidate, Wood the intern and Giamatti a rival campaign manager.
The film is based on the play Farragut North, with the script being written by Clo0ney, Grant Heslov and Beau Willimon, who wrote the original play. Filming is scheduled to start in February 2011.
