Chris Pratt has landed himself the voice role of the legendary lasagne eating cat ‘Garfield’ in the upcoming movie.
Written by ‘Finding Nemos’ David Reynolds, the new animation will be directed by Mark Dindal. The original comic strip creator Jim Davis will serve as an executive producer on the film along with Bridget McMeel from Amuse and Craig Sost. John Cohen and Steven P. Wegner produce alongside Kosove and Johnson. DNEG Animation, which recently worked in the animated feature Ron’s Gone Wrong, will animate and produce the film.
First appearing in the comic sections in 1978, Garfield has since gone on to appear in the big screen in live-action/animated hybrid ‘Garfield’ in 2004 and its sequel, 2006’s ‘Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties.’ In these movies, Bill Murray voiced the titular cat.
Pratt seems to have become a bit of a favourite in the voice over world having recently landed the voice role of Mario in the latest video game adaptation of ‘Super Mario Bros’. He will share the mic with Anya Taylor-Joy who will voice Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong. He recently starred in Amazon’s sci-fi feature ‘The Tomorrow War’, he also returns next year with ‘Jurassic World: Dominion.’
