Chris Hemsworth and Tiffany Haddish are to team up for a brand new buddy cop comedy going by the name of ‘Down Under Cover’ and has a theme that involves stripping.
Hemsworth will play a detective who goes undercover to crack a series of baffling casino heists in which the prime suspects are a troupe of Australian male erotic dancers.
He’s forced to take the partner no one else will, a lone wolf played by Haddish who does things only one way: hers. Together they have to work as an unlikely duo to solve the crime of their careers.
The film is said to be in the same vein as ’48 Hours’ and Rush Hour. Peter Hoare will pen the script.
Haddish will also produce the film alongside Hemsworth’s Thematic Entertainment.
Over the past couple of years, Hemsworth has proved more than worthy of the comedy role with his characters in both the female-led Ghostbusters and Thor: Ragnorak which gave a new life to the Thor spin-off. Hemsworth was last seen in not his usual state in Avengers: Endgame. His upcoming projects include ‘Men in Black: International’ where he will reunite with Tessa Thompson. He is also currently filming the ‘Jay and Silent Bob’ reboot. He will also play the role of Hulk Hogan in Todd Phillip’s biopic of the iconic wrestler.
Haddish made her big breakthrough in ‘Girls Trip’, she quickly followed that up with ‘Night School’ opposite Kevin Hart. She can next be heard voicing the character of Daisy in ‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’. Other upcoming projects include ‘The Kitchen’ opposite Melissa McCarthy and Elizabeth Moss.
