Word on the street says Chris Evans could be returning to Marvel alongside Robert Downey Jr. for a role in 2026’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’

Ploy details are currently kept tightly locked away from prying eyes. As to who Evans could be playing in the movie is anyone guess after ending ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as an old man, handing over the Captain America baton onto Anthony Mackie. Even though Downey Jr was killed off as Tony Stark aka Iron Man, he is returning to the franchise as the movie’s villain Doctor Victor von Doom.

Evans has already made a return to Marvel after appearing in this summer’s ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ in which he reprised his role as Johnny Storm, not Captain America, from the Fantastic Four.

Joe and Anthony Russo are directing ‘Doomsday’ and 2027’s ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which will conclude the Multiverse Saga of the MCU, and they’ve hinted that the movies will be connected, just like the two-part story of 2018’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame.’

‘Doomsday’ is set to be released on May 1, 2026, with ‘Secret Wars’ expected to land a year later on May 7, 2027.
