Theron’s casting quashes rumours that Universal were soliciting Angelina Jolie to take on the role and follows on from yesterday’s announcement that Tom Hardy was close to signing on to the project as the queen’s huntsman.
Snow White and the Huntsman is based on a script by Evan Daugherty and finds the huntsman being hired by the evil queen to track down her runaway stepdaughter, the fairest in all the land. When he realizes that the queen intends to kill Snow White, he helps her escape, and the pair go on the run.
Filming is expected to commence early next year.
