Since Fast Five, the Fast and Furious franchise has been going from strength to strength, and last year’s part seven ended up becoming one of the highest grossing releases in history.

While there were rumours that Jason Statham and Luke Evans would be teaming up in the F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) helmed Fast and Furious 8, it sounds like Universal will be taking things in a slightly different direction as they look to cast a new female villain.

Release dates for THREE more Fast and Furious movies revealed

The script is still being worked on right now, but Deadline reveals that Gray and writer Chris Morgan are adding this character into the story, and have their eye on Charlize Theron to play her. After Mad Max: Fury Road, the actress is used to vehicular mayhem, but this movie would still be an unexpected movie for the star. It would also be downright awesome to see!

The Most Insane Moments In The Fast & Furious Franchise

While still something of a divisive series, the Fast and Furious franchise has become massively successful for Universal and the reviews have grown more and more positive in recent years. Gray did great things with his last movie, so this one is definitely in more than capable hands. Fast and Furious 8 is set to be released in the UK on April 14th, 2017.

  1. Charlize would make a great villain. The only thing for me going forward with these films is they keep Paul Walker alive somehow. even if its just the odd mention. To not have him remembered in the films going forward wouldn’t be right.
