Cate Blanchett has entered into negotiations to star in the movie adaptation of the first-person shooter game ‘Borderlands’.
Blanchett is up for the role of Lilith, one of the main protagonists in the franchise, and one of the playable characters in the first ‘Borderlands’ game. Only one of six women in the galaxy, Lilith belongs to the powerful siren class, with insane superhuman powers.
Eli Roth will helm the picture with Avi and Ari Arad producing through Arad Prods along with Erik Feig, who is also producing via his Picturestart banner. Craig Mazin has penned the latest screenplay draft.

Having launched in 2009, ‘Borderlands’ is an open-world action role-playing first-person shooter video game. The game’s story focuses on a group of four “Vault Hunters”, who travel to the distant planet Pandora to hunt down an alien vault, rumoured to contain advanced alien technology, finding themselves battling the local wildlife and bandit population, but ultimately attempting to stop the head of a private corporation army from reaching the vault first.
Blanchett’s most recent film’s include ‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette’, ‘The House With The Clock in the Wall’ and ‘Oceans Eight’. She also voiced the character of Valka in ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’. She is currently starring in the TV series ‘Miss America’ and was filming Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Nightmare Alley’ before production halted due to the pandemic.
