It was announced earlier this year that Robert Zemeckis would direct a 3D motion-capture adaptation of the Beatles’ The Yellow Submarine and had recruited Cary Elwes, Dean Lennox Kelly, Peter Serafinowicz and Adam Campbell to portray George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr respectively.

Elwes, in an interview conducted with MTV at the New York Comic-Con this weekend, provided an update on the film, saying production is expected to commence in April of next year.

He then went on to comment about the motion-capture experience, saying:

“It’s more than a voice. We actually have to perform the roles […] If you know much about motion-capture, it’s not just voice-over work. You really have to perform the role.”
