Apple TV has released the official trailer for its chilling new psychological horror thriller series ‘Cape Fear,’ a haunting reimagining inspired by both the 1962 classic and Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed 1991 remake. The 10-episode limited series premieres globally on Friday, June 5, 2026 with its first two episodes, followed by weekly episodes every Friday through July 31, 2026.
The newly released trailer teases an atmosphere thick with dread, paranoia and simmering vengeance as Academy Award winner Javier Bardem steps into the role of Max Cady, a notorious killer newly released from prison with a singular obsession: revenge.
Starring opposite Bardem are Academy Award nominee Amy Adams as Anna Bowden and Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Patrick Wilson as Tom Bowden, a successful married couple whose carefully built life begins to unravel when Cady resurfaces.
Created, showrun and executive produced by Nick Antosca, ‘Cape Fear’ also boasts an impressive executive producing team that includes Academy Award winners Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. The series draws inspiration from John D. MacDonald’s novel “The Executioners,” which first inspired the 1962 Universal Pictures adaptation starring Gregory Peck, before Scorsese’s iconic 1991 version reinvented the material for a new generation.
Joining the central cast are Joe Anders, Lily Collias and Malia Pyles, while CCH Pounder, Jamie Hector and Anna Baryshnikov round out the supporting ensemble.
The pilot episode is directed by Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum, who also serves as executive producer. The series hails from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, alongside Amblin Television. Executive producers also include Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, and Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey alongside Spielberg for Amblin Television.
