Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph will be hitting US theatres in just a few weeks’ time, and all we’ve seen from the film so far suggests it’s going to be one of the best animated films of the year.
And with the brilliant animated short, Paperman, expected to be attached, there’s even more reason to go see it as soon as it arrives in theatres. I loved the little short at its UK debut at the BFI London Film Festival, and can’t wait to see it again.
A sugar-sweet new poster has debuted over on Disney’s Japanese Facebook, giving Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz front and centre, and Sonic, Dr. Robotnik, and co. make great little cameos in the top-left.
“Ralph is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, the good guy star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.
On his quest, Wreck-It Ralph meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realise his dream and save the day before it’s too late?”
John C. Reilly takes the lead as Wreck-It Ralph himself, with an excellent voice cast starring alongside him, headed up by Jack McBrayer, Sue Lynch, Sarah Silverman, Alan Tudyk, Dennis Haysbert, and Ed O’Neill.
Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama), the two-time Emmy-winning director, makes his feature directorial debut, directing from a script co-written by Phil Johnston (Cedar Rapids) and newcomer Jennifer Lee.
Wreck-It Ralph will be arriving in 3D on 2nd November in the US, before coming to UK theatres on 15th February, 2013, followed by a Japanese release on 23rd March, as you can see in the poster below. I can’t wait.
