C.O.G.-PosterMarking the first feature adaptation of David Sedaris’ work, C.O.G. bowed at Sundance at the start of the year to positive early reviews, and will be heading into theatres in just a few short weeks.

The comedy-drama stars Jonathan Groff (Glee, Frozen) as Sedaris in the lead of the autobiographical comedy. And now Focus World, a Focus Features arm, have launched the first trailer and poster.

This autobiographical comedy is the first-ever screen adaptation of the work of acclaimed writer David Sedaris.

Jonathan Groff (Glee) stars as David, a young man who plans a summer in the Northwest with his friend Jennifer (Troian Bellisario of Pretty Little Liars), working on a farm. But when Jennifer unexpectedly bails on him, David is left to dirty his hands alone and jump into a series of misadventures that will take him to unfamiliar – and hilariously uncomfortable – places. A presentation of Focus World, the alternative distribution division of Focus Features, and Screen Media Films.

Starring alongside Groff are Denis O’Hare, Casey Wilson, Dean Stockwell, Troian Bellisario, and Corey Stoll.

Kyle Patrick Alvarez is directing from his own script, based on an original essay by Sedaris in his 1997 collection, Naked.

C.O.G. – or, ‘Child of God’ – will be released in cinemas and via VOD on September 20th in the US. No word yet on a UK release date, but hopefully it won’t stay that way for long.
