Breathe-In-Poster-sliceDrake Doremus’ acclaimed drama Breathe In may have already had both its theatrical and its home entertainment release here in the UK, but the path to its distribution in the US has taken a little longer.

Cohen Media Group will be releasing the independent film in the spring, and they’ve launched the US trailer and poster over on Indiewire.

BREATHE IN pairs writer/director Drake Doremus once again with his incandescent “Like Crazy” star, Felicity Jones.

Soulful and musical British exchange student Sophie Williams (Jones) comes to New York in search of inspiration. On the surface, Sophie’s host family seems happy enough, but with her arrival to the Reynolds’ Upstate New York home, the private struggles of each family member begin to bubble. In particular, frustrated musician-turned-piano- teacher Keith Reynolds (Guy Pearce) finds long suppressed dreams and desires reignited by Sophie’s talent and inquisitive nature. While Keith’s wife, Megan (Amy Ryan) and daughter, Lauren (breakout talent, Mackenzie Davis) focus on Lauren’s final year of high school, Sophie and Keith are drawn ever closer by their mutual longing for creative expression. Ultimately, Sophie and Keith must confront how much they are willing to sacrifice and what they truly want out of life.

Felicity Jones reunites with her Like Crazy writer/director following her award-winning performance back in 2011. Guy Pearce stars opposite her in the male lead, with Amy Ryan, Mackenzie Davis, Kyle MacLachlan, Alexandra Wentworth, and Ben Shenkman completing the ensemble.

Doremus is directing from another script he co-wrote with Ben York Jones, with whom he also worked with co-writing Like Crazy.

Breathe In will be released in the US on March 28th. Here’s the new trailer and the beautiful poster – rather more subtle and aesthetically pleasing than its UK counterpart – to keep the anticipation on high.
