This morning we got our hands on perhaps the greatest Blu-ray boxset out this year, and with Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond adventure, due out in a matter of weeks it is fortuitous timing indeed that you can now own each of the Bond film in shiny HD with the Bond 50 Blu-ray set. For your money you get all 22 films, with a space in the set for the Skyfall Blu (nice touch), and a disc of new extras. This is the ultimate collection for Bond fans.

Given that the boxset covers the entirety of the Bond years there’s a whole host of promotional material to use, there’s a plethora of image galleries on the discs and we’ve got a sampling of these pictures below.
Part of the wonderful thing about the boxset, and the extras therein, is the sheer amount of footage collected over the years. As I’ll cover in my review of the set there’s a wealth of extras on each disc as well as some all new featurettes from the fifty years since Dr. No introduced us to Connery’s Bond. Though the extras are plentiful and delve into every crevasse of the Bond history it is the Bond films in High Definition which are the main draw here, and they look exceptional. The quality of the transfers (the process of which is the subject of a short, but fascinating, special feature in the set) is impeccable and below are two clips to illustrate the point. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli talking about the allure of Bond on Blu-ray and then we’ve got a famous clip from one of Bond’s most enjoyable outings – this time against a certain Mr. Goldfinger.
