BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios, in partnership with Ludo Studio, have officially announced that the beloved animated series ‘Bluey’ will make its cinematic debut on August 6, 2027, with a feature-length film arriving in theatres worldwide.

Written and directed by ‘Bluey ‘creator Joe Brumm, the CG-animated movie will be produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios. The production is led by Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The LEGO® Movie) with Richard Jeffery (director on Bluey Seasons 1–3) joining as co-director. Brumm also serves as executive producer alongside Justine Flynn for BBC Studios, with Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson representing Ludo Studio. For Disney, the project will be overseen by David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, and his team.

Fans can expect the return of familiar voices, with Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack reprising their roles as Chilli and Bandit, Bluey’s mum and dad. The film marks the first time the Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning series will be brought to life on the big screen, expanding the world of the cheeky and loveable blue heeler for global audiences.

BBC Studios is financing and licensing the film, while Walt Disney Studios will handle theatrical distribution. The production is also receiving significant support from the Australian Government through the Producer Offset and Screen Australia, alongside backing from the Queensland Government via Screen Queensland’s Post, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.

Since its debut, ‘Bluey’ has become a global cultural phenomenon, charming children and adults alike with its heartwarming stories, humour, and playful family dynamics. Centred on Bluey, her sister Bingo, and their parents, the series celebrates imagination and the joy of everyday life through games that are both unpredictable and hilarious.

With the feature film, audiences can look forward to a bigger, bolder adventure that takes Bluey’s boundless energy and family fun to new heights.
