To celebrate POP Fest, which airs on POP on Freeview, we sat down with the eclectic cast of the hit show Big Top Academy, which you can watch as part of the festival this summer.
Big Top Academy follows the adventures of eight students of the most famous boarding school for circus performers. Nicholas Zolta and his friends, a group of extraordinary young performers, are in search of a dream, but no one could imagine the mysteries they’ll find on the way. And to celebrate, we spoke to some of its cast about the show, its impact on younger audiences, the unique challenges they have to face and who inspires them to do what they do.
In addition, we chatted to showrunner Leila Basen and circus trainer Krin Haglund (who also plays Ms. Martel in the show) about the huge production and the long production schedules they have faced – as well as the “at home” version they are producing during lockdowns.
